Fun and Games

I am not really much of an artist, but I enjoy it. My favorite artists are Michelangelo and the Impressionists. I remember when ascii art was popular, and the asci-art newsgroups started up. While I don't follow them anymore, I still have a few links to some sites. I may also eventually post some of what I have collected and done.

I am an avid reader, having an extensive assortment of books piled about my room. My main interests are fantasy, sci-fi, action/adventure, and mystery/horror. My favorite authors include Anne Rice, Dean Koontz, J.R.R. Tolkien, and J.K. Rowling I have read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy several times, and have a few of his other works, although The Silmarillion and Smith of Wooten Major and Farmer Giles of Ham are the only ones I've read completely. I also have read almost all of Anne Rice's works, with the exception of Cry to Heaven which for some reason never interested me. When I visited a friend near New Orleans in 1998, she and I tried to locate Anne's house the night before I left, but I'm not sure if we saw the right one or not.

I have decided to put my online game links, as well as tips & cheats and other game sites here for now, until I decide how best to arrange them. Among the online game links are several versions of Java Othello.

Most people that know me, know I can be quite the comic, although I'm often quiet, and was never the class clown type in school. I read the comics regularly, although I don't follow very many of them online. I also love the Dancing Baby. I have the CD single, one of the dancing baby toys that dances, and a car window dancing baby. A few links are to humorous images I've been sent. I also enjoy computer humor, and have links to several Linux humor sites. Being a fan of Cletus T. Judd and "Weird Al" Yankovic, I really enjoy parodies, so I have a few links to them, as well as other sites that I just kind of lumped together.

My music interests are quite eclectic. I enjoy almost everything. However, there's not a lot of hip-hop/rap, or current "pop" music that I like. I've lost count of what all is in my collect, but I figure I have somewhere between 200 and 300 CDs and cassettes each, countless albums that I need to organize and clean out and roughly 75-100 8-tracks. Some of my favorite groups are Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Queen, Pink Floyd and The Eagles. From that you can probably tell my interests are mainly classic and hard rock. However, I have started listening to new, hard rock again, thanks to groups like Creed, Nickelback and 3 Doors Down.I have all of Led Zeppelin's regular albums, one or two singles, as well as many related releases, such as most of Robert Plant's solo work, a couple of groups Jimmy Page was in, No Quarter, Encomium, some symphonic Led Zeppelin, and a CD of various Australian groups doing covers of Stairway to Heaven for a local talk show. I also have most of Metallica's CDs, but not all of their singles, nor do I have Binge and Purge. "Weird Al" Yankovic is another artist that I have a fairly complete collection of CDs and tapes.

I have been wanting to buy a guitar and learn to play for quite some time now, and have a few links that I came up with while doing a bit of research. I now own a Fender. Here's a pic.

Another interest of mine is photography. My first camera was a Kodak 110, that I got for Christmas, back when I was about 6 or 7, I think. I currently own 2 Pentax 35mm cameras, a K-1000 and a ZX-6N as well as a Nikon Nikkormat. I initially chose Pentax because the K-1000 was a recommendation of the teacher when I took a b&w photography class in college. I bought the Nikon because it's another excellent camera, and I had already picked up 2 lenses for it, one at a garage sale, and another at a gun show, where I also picked up the K-1000. I have a zoom lens for the AF Pentax and two fixed-length manual focus lenses as well as a 2x tele-converter. My Nikon lenses include a f1.4 55mm, a 43-86 zoom, and a 20mm wide-angle lens. I also picked up a set of 52mm close-up lenses and a 49-52mm step-up rings, so I only have to get one size of filters. I also have a 52mm lens hood, which, with the step-up rings, I will now be able to use on all of my lenses. I think the next thing I plan to get is another bag and an adapter, so I can use either my Nikon lenses on my Pentax, or vice-versa. I have seen the converters to use Pentax K-mount lenses on Nikon manual focus cameras. I generally use Fuji film, as it's a good quality and a bit cheaper than Kodak. I also got a rebate on my first pack of 35mm, which is why I chose it to begin with. I have tried most common types of camera at one point or another. I have some pics I took with a box camera that my grandpa let me use. I have also used 126 cameras, a disc camera, a Polaroid instant camera and a Fuji Advantix camera. I still have the Polaroid.

One of my favorite actors is Steve Buscemi. I also have links to an assortment of other actors and actresses I like. One of my favorite tv shows and movies is Highlander and I have several links to it. Also are links to other movie and tv show sites.

I have been watching wrestling since I was a little kid. The AWA was often here in Omaha, although I never saw them live. I'm more of a WWE fan than anything, however, I'm becoming somewhat jaded with much of their product.
